"I had to take control of my life or lose my life."
Trials, tribulations and TV
I have been overweight my entire life and, as a result of my poor eating and exercise habits, became diabetic. In 2002, I lost my brother as a result of diabetes and it was a wake-up call: either I take control of my life or I lose my life. Plus, my diabetes was making me feel fatigued often. Since the passing of my brother, I have tried to lose weight and have been minimally successful. When the opportunity to be a contestant on a cable TV dance show presented itself, it was definitely a no-brainer! I love to dance, and I wanted to lose weight. The show was a wonderful experience and I lost weight—unfortunately, the health staff and professionals did not spend enough time or tutelage for my diabetic condition.
"The good stuff."
When I left the show, I found out about Nutrisystem D—a wonderful program for people like me who need to know the proper foods that people with diabetes can eat. I absolutely love this program because of the variety of foods I get to have—I don't feel like I'm depriving myself of the "good stuff." Plus, I eat throughout the day and I'm never hungry. When I leave the house I always take my snacks and meals with me so I'm not tempted to purchase and eat the wrong things. As a result, I've lost 36 lbs.* and I've gone from a size 22 to a 14-16!* Even better, because of my weight loss my blood glucose and A1Cs have improved*, and I'm feeling so much better. Nutrisystem D is an awesome program!
